DESIGN STUDIO 8

TOPIC STUDIO-ROOFSCAPE URBANISM

Woodbury University ARCH 402 Spring 2021 Instructor: Anthony Fontenot

This Topic Studio explores and tests architectural design as it relates to one or more issues relevant to contemporary architectural discourse. This studio will investigate an innovative form of urban design referred to as “roofscape urbanism,” a new approach to creating sustainable cities. The proposition regards rooftops as a valuable and underused resource.

The goal of the studio is to design an alternative, sustainable, and affordable model of a small urban village based on low-cost and high-quality minimal housing units, organic farming, renewable energy and jobs made available to the immediate area of the Skid Row neighborhood Los Angeles and beyond.
